Sixth Form at Iveshead School
ISF Sixth Form provides a distinct and supportive post-16 education that focuses on the development of the whole student. Its small size allows for an intimate learning environment with small classes, fostering close relationships between students and staff. The curriculum is primarily A-Level based, complemented by some vocational offerings in Science and Sport. The school prides itself on a broad range of subjects to ensure students have a wide array of options for their future.
The majority of students progress to university, with many securing places at prestigious institutions in various fields like science, medicine, and marine biology. The school also supports students pursuing higher-level apprenticeships or entering the workforce directly. The school is developing a new sixth form to expand its subject offerings and provide even greater choice.
To apply, students need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths. Students who don’t meet these requirements can resit the exams. Some specific A-Level courses have higher entry requirements. The application window opens in October, and applicants are invited for an informal interview before receiving a conditional offer. The school’s entry requirements are designed to place students on a pathway that maximises their potential for success.
Beyond academics, the school offers a rich array of enrichment opportunities. These include personal development sessions on practical life skills like cooking and money management, as well as discussions on current events. Students can also act as mentors for younger students in areas like reading and numeracy. Subject-specific trips, such as Media excursions to London and Geography fieldwork in Wales, provide real-world context for learning.
