Ofsted

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. It reports directly to Parliament and is independent and impartial. Ofsted inspects and regulates services which care for children and young people, and those providing education and skills for learners of all ages.

We were inspected by OFSTED at the start of February 2022.  This was the first time the school has been inspected since the age-range change and the merger of Shepshed High School and Hind Leys College. A lot has changed since then. The inspection was, as you would expect, a rigorous process with four inspectors spending two days with us looking at all aspects of our school.

The final report has now been shared with us and you can read a copy of the full report here.  The report is also on the OFSTED website.

We are very pleased to tell you that in the key OFSTED framework areas of Quality of Education, Personal Development, Behaviour and Attitudes and Sixth-form Provision the inspection team judged Iveshead to be ‘Good’ in all of those areas. This is a fantastic outcome, especially in our recent circumstances.

The inspection did reveal that we had not fully got in place all of the expected paperwork relating to off-site learning which a small number of our students undertake. However, you will see from the report that  OFSTED also concluded that our “arrangements for safeguarding are effective”. We were able to put everything that was needed in place very quickly after the inspection.  Unfortunately, despite our quick response, the final grade for safeguarding is ‘Requires Improvement’ and this  impacts on the overall judgement.

As with all ‘Good’ OFSTED reports we also have some areas for improvement which we have already started to address and will be working on between now and our next inspection.

We would encourage you to have a read of the full report.  There is a lot in there that is very positive and reflects the hard work of students and staff and the support of families through some very challenging times.

We always welcome parent and carer questions and feedback at any point so please let us know if you have any questions, concerns or things you think we need to know. Parent View is the Ofsted website where parents can give their views and opinions on schools and can be accessed by clicking here.
